The purpose is to enforce Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Disease Act,1993 legislation act. We act as an intermediary between the stakeholder involved, The Department of Employment and Labour Compensation Fund, Employers, Employees and Medical Services Provider.
Isihawu IOD aims to reduce the level of stress of injured employees, reduce unfinalized claims from medical services providers, reduce a high volume of claims which are not compensated timeously, including injured employees, widows, dependents of the deceased. Our aim is to reduce the Compensation Fund backlog by doing pre-adjudication and injury on duty claims administration.

What We Do?

- Any injury sustained by an employee while performing their work duties or as a result of their employment e.g Slips,trips and falls

e.g Asbestosis. All employees who work with asbestos.
Silicosis. Is a type of pulmonary fibrosis, a lung disease caused by breathing in tiny bits of silica.
Pneumoconiosis. Is any lung disease caused by the inhalation of organic or nonorganic airborne dust and fibes. Employees usually encounter those inhalants in workplace environment, and there is known as an occupational disease.
Working in a work environment that have loud noise that damages your ears.
Mental Health condition that caused by extremely stressful or terrifying events-either being part of it or witnessing it.
e.g Flashbacks, Nightmares, Sever or Anxiety and uncontrollable thoughts about the event.
“Professional Nurse who was assaulted by the psych patient and almost raped her at St Patrick’s Hospital in Eastern Cape Bizana.
Employee was busy performing her duties at filling point and the unknown man came and shot her several times, died on the scene.
Whilst in office, member of public entered the offices and ask employee by his name, took out a firearm and shot him in his head, died on the scene.
The employee was driving a tractor and collided with red polo vivo died on the scene.
We scrutinise all received and ensure that billing and documentation are according to the gazetted rules.

Who can claim?

You do not lose any income or your job by applying for Injury on Duty (IOD).

Every employee who was injured on duty is welcome to do IOD claim application.

Every employee who was affected by any disease related to work is welcome to initiate a claim application.

No matter how old your injury on duty case is, you are welcome to apply.

Widows or widowers are welcome to apply on behalf of their spouses who lost their lives due to an injury on duty.

We assist claimants to get medication, and artificial limbs for those with amputation.
